How Eligible Australian's Can Get Access To Subsidised Hearing Care

Eligible Aussies maybe be eligible for completely free hearing aids and followup services making it easier than ever to get access to hearing care!

Who is eligible?

You may be eligible if you fall into one of the following categories*:

  • Pensioner Concession Card holder

  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card holder

  • a Department of Veterans’ Affairs White Card holder issued for specific conditions that include hearing loss

  • receiving Sickness Allowance from Centrelink

  • a dependent of a person in one of the above categories

  • a member of the Australian Defence Force

  • referred by the Disability Employment Services (Disability Management Services) Program; or

  • National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participant with hearing needs, referred by a planner from the National Disability Insurance Agency

How does it work?

The process is simple, you can apply online at the HSP website for the program, or Hearing Choices can connect you with clinic in your area who is contracted to the Hearing Services Program*.

What about private health insurance?

If you have private health insurance that includes hearing aids coverage you may also be eligible for further rebates for up to $1,800*! We can help you get the most out of your private health insurance and stack the rebate with any other subsidy available further lowering the cost of the devices. 

What hearing aids and service are available under the program?

If your hearing assessment identifies you would benefit from a hearing device, you will be offered a fully subsidised hearing device (completely free!); or

You may be given the option to purchase a partially subsidised hearing device, which may have more technological features to suit individual lifestyle choices.
