Phonak was founded in 1947 by french investors under the name AG für Elektroakustik who saw an opportunity with emerging technolo gies and was taken over by Erhnst Rihs in 1965. In 2007 the parent company was changed from Phonak Holding AG to Sonova Holding AG while the hearing aid brand maintains the original Phonak name.
